Peabody Ducks Photo Gallery -- Peabody Hotel; Orlando, Florida

By Matthew C. Keegan

The highlight of the 2003 NBAA Convention for many was viewing the Wright Flyer model, a wonderful replica of the original aircraft. However, not too far behind was the entertainment given by the Peabody Hotel mallards -- four females, one male -- everyday at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Each day promptly at 11 a.m. the ducks leave their suite at this stately hotel and come down the elevator and walk to the fountain in the main lobby. For the next six hours they frolic in a fountain too small to be a pond, but just the right size to be viewed by each of the guests. At 5 p.m. they are ushered from the fountain, travel down the stairs, across the rolled out red carpet, and back up the elevator to their room. A life of luxury? You bet! One that us humans can only only quack about.

From frolicking in the fountain to the rolling out of the red carpet... being led by their guide, the ducks descend the steps and begin their walk through the lobby...

.. while just about everyone is taking pictures, laughing, pointing, and simply enjoying the parade...

...the mallards take their final steps to the elevator and begin their ride up to their suite,

to rest up for their journey back to the lobby the following morning at 11.
