Geez GalleyKat -- nothing like keeping us in suspense! Pleade let us know you are safe and sound as soon as you get out of there and get back to "civilization" and an internet connection. We're all keeping our fingers crossed for ya!
P.S. Wouldn't you rather come back to Kona instead of Baghdad??
You take care!

I would rather be in Baghdad, where you know there can be trouble, than in many other cities around the world where the problems are not as evident.
The news media loves to fixate on the problems, they are real and are happening, without featuring the good that is going on.
I wouldn't recommend too many public places to hang out, but you should be fine as long as your eyes and ears are open.
Tell us all about it!

Thanks for the support. So far OK. I am flying aboard an Iraq 767 that has been sitting in the desert for years. No work tools, no jepsons, had to fight for plates, cups and service items. Also pilots had to fight for life rafts. Will tell more after this trip. We had a window shatter and could not get it fixed for a while. We are part USA and European Crew.
Tonight going out to dinner with some people from the new goverment here.
Even tho this has been interesting, I miss baseball in the USA.

Dont mean to be a downer but these kind of trips remind me why some trips are not worth doing.
At least it sheds light on the variety of work there is out there.
GK, I thought you lived on one of the coasts where these kind of trips are not your only option?

GalleyKat -- This trip may top your "soccer match" trip for excitement. Glad to know, at least, that you're getting paid double. Maybe you need a bonus as well?
Take care of yourself. Good luck. Keep us posted.

Yikes, with that bit of additional information I do not think I would like to be a decoy for anyone!
Stay safe and have a good trip back to the US.
Oh my, Galleykat! What an adventure you are having.
I'm with doc on this one, you deserve hazzard pay. If you were in the military you would get combat pay.
Stay safe and let us know when you return.
