Default End 0f 2007 TRIPS

Happy New Year to all!-- asked a similar question last year at this time. If you do a trip in Dec and the company scrambles to cut you a check so they can close out their books for 2007 but you dont get the check in the mail til 2008 and cash it, do you claim the income as earned in 2007 or 2008? (of course It'll will be figured out when I do my taxes but I'm wondering now!--Thanks for all expert opinions and factual answers--Penny

If the company issues it it 2007, it most likely will be on that year's 1099 or W2, depending on how they pay you. You must declare the income in the year the client declares it. That is when the IRS receives the info. They must mail out your W2 or 1099 by the last business day in Jan.
Hope this helps....Jen

Have a Happy and Healthy New Year!!!!!!
