Hi Jolie, welcome to CFAC.

I should have sent a private email to you when you first registered explaining the need for you to introduce yourself to members of the community. I apologize for not doing that.

Sending private messages is not a problem. However, because you had never posted previously and people do not know who you are, doubt comes up fairly quickly. Our regular members know that scammers abound online, so any kind of message received without some sort of explaining of who you are will cause doubt. I can't say that I blame people for feeling that way.

Most people here are very helpful, but they also want to feel members out. A good forum reputation does not come instantly, rather it is developed through regular participation, thoughtful questions, and helpful advice.

Stick around if you like, we've been at this for almost five years now. The nature of the business means that some members are away for weeks at a time on business, therefore you cannot expect a quick response as you would on most other forums.

Regards,
Matt Keegan

Default Thank you, Matt

Matt,

Thank you for the kind welcome. I apologize for my behavior. I had never read any of the message boards until last night and I was just so shocked by the posts regarding what I thought was an innocent inquiry (sent to 200+ CFA per a website where their resumes were posted for free and included their email address). I tried to introduce myself last night but, after pretty much telling my whole life story, luckily, albeit not without frustration, it didn't post.

Btw, I wouldn't even know how to PM someone and wish I'd known about your site before I tried to do all of what you've already done magnificently, i.e., providing articles, support, information, etc.

I now see there's a forum where I can introduce myself. I'll go there next.

Thank you again,

Jolie

Hi Jolie:
Sorry for the pain I must have caused you. The reason I posted this inquiry was what Matt had mentioned.

This is a tight group and we come here to get support, feedback, and help. Many here have had experiences-good and bad-with journalists, so I wanted to get their opinion. Again, I apologize.

Default Being back the cons

One more thing: Most forums these days are under constant attack by spammers, hackers, and con artists, therefore the level of vigilance by the forum administrator is typically very high to thwart such attacks.

I can count on the moderators and many of the regular members of this community to tip me off if there is a problem, particularly if I do not catch it first. We tend to be super cautious here with reputations being built over time through consistent posting and helpfulness.

I guess it can seem like a hen house to newbies too! *cluck*cluck*
